It’s Not Fiction, a Flying Sports Car has Already Been Created

Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

Flying cars seem to be getting closer and closer. What was once just a topic in science fiction movies is now a reality. The AirCar model, created by the company Klein Vision, made the first flight in history between two cities in Slovakia.

In the video published by the company on its YouTube channel, you can see how the vehicle takes off from Nitra International Airport, the fourth largest city in Slovakia, and heads to Bratislava, the country’s capital.

According to Klein Vision, the flying car covered the 100 kilometres that separate the two cities in 35 minutes and completed its 142nd landing.

Once on the ground, the vehicle automatically folded its wings and became a sleek sports car in less than three minutes. Then he rolled out of the airport.

Crowds of onlookers accompanied the prototype tour through the streets of central Bratislava.

The flying car was piloted and driven by its creator, Stefan Klein.

Klein Vision claims that his model managed to cut travel time between the two cities in half.

The test flight took place on June 28

Technical specifications

The prototype uses a 160 horsepower BMW gasoline engine. When in ‘aeroplane’ mode it can reach a speed of up to 190 kilometres per hour and an altitude of 8,200 feet (about 2.5 kilometres).

However, prototype 2 will have a 300 horsepower engine and will reach a speed of up to 300 kilometres per hour.

The maximum weight that the AirCar can carry is 200 kilograms, so the number of passengers is currently limited to two.

The Klein Vision company belongs to Stefan Klein, who dreams of making flying cars a reality. The company has been working on the development of the model since 2017 and has so far invested over € 1.7 million.
